Elbert County 'Clerk and Recorder
The Clerk and Recorder in Colorado is responsible for managing 4 separate Departments: Recordation of official documents, Elections, Motor Vehicle and supplying the Clerk to the Board of County Commissioners. During his time in office, he was a champion for Election integrity. In two separate county surveys, the Motor Vehicle department was voted #1 in customer service for all county departments.
Jaunuary 2024 - Present
County Commissioner
During Dallas' first term as commissioner, he has been a steadfast defender of the Conservative Values for which Elbert County is known--everything from voting to join the lawsuit to allow local law enforcement to work with ICE, supporting resolutions defending the 2nd Amendment, maintaining a balanced budget while increasing the contingency funding and defending individual rights. He pledges to continue to do the same.

1
Conservative
As a life-long Conservative Republican, Dallas first became interested in politics while Ronald
Reagan was in office.
Reagan's Leadership Style, Rush Limbaugh's conservatism combined with a good dose of humor and
President Trump's
common-sense, no nonsense style of conservative leadership helped shape Dallas' foundational ideals.
As Dallas says,
"If you understand Reagan, Rush and Trump then you understand my conservative views."
2
Principled
Having a principled decision maker as Commissioner is paramount to assuring decisions are fair and each situation is engaged without prejudice.
Dallas' Christian Conservative beliefs shape his core values and convictions that undergird his conduct as a Commissioner. Land Use applications are a quasi-judicial hearing where the Commissioners role is similar to a judge. The primary question is: Does the application meet all the requirements for approval? If yes, an approval should follow. This creates a fair process for every application and is not dependent on the whims or preferences of a Commissioner. Rulings based on personal preference can put the County at legal and financial risk.
3
Experienced
Any position takes time to learn. A position of Commissioner is no different. The roles and responsibilities of a Commissioner are wide and varied. Primary responsibilities include; the county budget, setting policy and direction for the County, overseeing Land Use applications and regulations. Many other areas of responsibility include representing Elbert County Citizens when interacting with other elected offices, sitting on many regional and state boards (giving Elbert County a voice in those proceedings).
Dallas has 13+ years of experience in county government which means he's been a part of 13 county budget cycles. As a Fiscal Conservative, he cares about, knows and understands the County Budget.
